Privacy Policy for ClipVase

This privacy notice for MyVase LLC ("we," "us," or "our") describes how and why we might collect, store, use, and/or process your information when you use ClipVase, including our mobile application, website at getclipvase.com, and any other products or services we offer now or in the future (collectively, the "Services").

By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

ClipVase is built on an on-device privacy architecture. Your videos, your scripts, and everything the app computes about them stay on your iPhone, with one narrow exception described in Section 6: a coarse place coordinate sent from your device to Apple's geocoding service. We have access to none of it. ClipVase has no user accounts and no app servers.

A. Information Stored ONLY on Your Device (Local Data)

This is your private data. It is stored in the app's secure container on your device and never transmitted to our servers, because there are none. This may include:

• Photo Library Access: With your permission, ClipVase reads the videos in your photo library in order to make them searchable. Your videos are never copied off your device, uploaded, or accessible to us.
• Search Data: The on-device representations ClipVase computes from your footage so it can match your script to your clips. These are derived entirely on your iPhone and stored only there.
• Scripts and Searches: Any script or search text you paste or type stays on your device.
• Place Labels: The approximate place names the app attaches to clusters of your clips (see Section 6), stored only on your device.
• Picks and Exports: Your clip selections and any exports you create are written to your device (and, where you choose, to your photo library).
• User Settings: App preferences, stored locally.
• Subscription Status (if applicable): A local copy of your current tier, validated by the platform's purchase verification system (e.g., Apple StoreKit).

B. Information Stored on Our Servers

None. ClipVase does not offer or require accounts, and we operate no server that receives data from the app.

C. Information Collected via Our Website

When you join our waitlist at getclipvase.com, we collect your email address through a Google Forms submission. This email is used solely to notify you of product availability and updates. It is stored in Google Sheets (operated by Google LLC) and is not shared with any other third parties, sold, or used for advertising.

2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?

We process your information for very limited purposes:

• Local Data is processed on your device to provide app features: making your footage searchable, matching your script to your clips, and exporting your picks.
• Place-Name Lookups are processed as described in Section 6: one coarse cluster coordinate goes from your device to Apple's geocoding service, and the resulting place label is stored on your device.
• Website Data (Waitlist) is processed only to send you product updates when you have opted in.

3. WHAT LEGAL BASES DO WE RELY ON?

• Contractual Necessity: Local processing of your footage happens on your device to provide the app's core function, at your direction, under the permission you grant in iOS.
• Legitimate Interests: Automatic place-name lookups (Section 6) rely on our legitimate interest in making your library searchable by place while sending the least data possible: one coarse coordinate per cluster of videos, rounded to roughly 200 meters, sent to Apple and to no one else. You can prevent these lookups entirely by removing location metadata from your videos or denying the app access to them.
• Consent: If you opt in to our waitlist, we will use your email address based on your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION?

We do not sell your data. We only disclose minimal data to the essential service providers needed to run our Services:

• Platform Providers (e.g., Apple Inc.): If you subscribe or make a purchase, the platform processes your payment. We never see your credit card or financial data. We only receive a digital receipt to validate your purchase.
• Apple Inc. (device services): iCloud downloads of your own videos and place-name (geocoding) lookups happen directly between your device and Apple, under Apple's privacy policy. We are not part of these requests and receive nothing from them.
• Google Forms / Google Sheets (Google LLC): If you join our waitlist, your email address is submitted to Google Forms and stored in Google Sheets.

Your videos themselves are shared with no one; they never leave your device except through your own iCloud account. Of everything the app derives from them, the only value that ever leaves your device is the coarse cluster coordinate sent to Apple's geocoding service, described in Section 6.

5. DO WE USE COOKIES OR TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?

No. We do not use advertising identifiers, cookies, web beacons, or any other technology for tracking or analytics on our website or in our app.

6. HOW DO WE HANDLE YOUR PHOTO LIBRARY?

ClipVase requests access to your photo library through the standard iOS permission system. You choose the scope (full library or selected videos), and you can change it at any time in iOS Settings.

• Your videos are read and analyzed on your iPhone only.
• Your footage, and everything the app computes from its pixels (frames, thumbnails, search data), is transmitted nowhere. The one derived value that leaves your device is the coarse place coordinate described below.
• Videos stored in iCloud may be downloaded to your device by iOS at your request (for example, to preview or export a clip whose original is in iCloud). That transfer happens between your device and your own iCloud account, under Apple's terms; we are not involved in it and receive nothing.
• Place names: To label groups of your clips with a place, the app automatically asks Apple's geocoding service for a place name after your library is scanned, using a coordinate rounded to approximately 200 meters (the center of a cluster of your videos), never a single video's exact location. Each area is looked up once and the resulting name is stored on your device. The request goes from your device to Apple under Apple's privacy terms; we are not involved and receive nothing.

7. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

• Local Data: Stored on your device until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app.
• Waitlist Data: Kept until you request removal or we complete the waitlist campaign, whichever comes first.

8. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

Primarily, by not collecting it. Your footage, your scripts, and everything the app computes stay on your device, protected by your device's own security. The only data we hold at all is a waitlist email address, stored in Google's infrastructure with industry-standard security.

9. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?

Our Services are not marketed to or intended for children under 13, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. If we learn we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it.

10. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

• Right to Access & Portability: You have full access to your data at all times, as it is stored on your own device.
• Right to Deletion:
  1. Full Data Erasure: Delete all local data by uninstalling the app from your device.
  2. Photo Access Withdrawal: Revoke or narrow photo library access at any time in iOS Settings.
  3. Waitlist Removal: Email us at cecilia@myvase.app to be removed from the waitlist.

11. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

We do not track our users in any way. "Do-Not-Track" (DNT) signals are not applicable to our Services.

12. DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?

Yes (CCPA/CPRA). As a California resident, you have the right to know what data is collected.

• We DO NOT "sell" your personal information.
• We DO NOT "share" your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• Right to Know/Access: You have the right to request what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
• Right to Delete: You have the right to request the deletion of your personal information.
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

13. DO OTHER REGIONS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?

Yes (GDPR/UK GDPR). As a resident of the EEA or UK, you have rights to access, rectification, erasure, and portability of your data, as described in Section 10.

14. DATA WE DO NOT COLLECT

We are a privacy-first utility. We NEVER collect:

• Your videos, photos, or anything derived from them
• Your scripts or search queries
• Usage analytics
• Location data (place-name lookups go from your device to Apple using a coarse cluster coordinate; we never receive or store it. See Section 6)
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
• Contact lists or microphone access
• Device fingerprinting or cross-app tracking data

15. APP PURPOSE & DISCLAIMERS

ClipVase is a footage curation utility. It helps you find clips in your own photo library by matching them to a script you provide, entirely on your device.

ClipVase is not a backup service or an archival tool. It does not store copies of your videos, and it is not a substitute for backing up your photo library. Search results are best-effort matches and may miss moments or return imperfect ones; you always review and choose the clips yourself.

16. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE?

Yes. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy and updating the "LAST UPDATED" date. For significant changes, we may also notify you via email or an in-app notification.

  1. To delete all your local data, uninstall the app from your device.
